Spa Project Overview

The Spa at Coral Reef Club opened in December 2008, taking design references from the specific colonial architecture unique to Barbados, integrating a clean modern twist to the established classic aesthetic charm that defines the Coral Reef Club – a revered member of the Small Luxury Hotel collection.

The Spa sits within a cool lush garden – a retreat from the beach - bird song, shade, privacy provided by lush tropical vegetation, and the evocative scent & color of a variety of flora typify the Spa. 

Each treatment room has a private garden where the treatment begins. Due to sympathetic design, the Spa guest is always in touch with the outdoors throughout their journey. A choice of sun, shade or cooled air can be found throughout the Spa making the spaces appealing to all guests and adaptable to changes in weather.  

Interior sophistication is evident throughout, evoking a tasteful residential feel - a welcome point of difference from ‘colder’ minimal Spa environments. Spa lighting is soft, indirect and enhances the chosen textures.

Limed, beamed pitched ceilings typical of the Coral Reef’s Luxury Plantation Suites were replicated in the treatment rooms contributing to design continuity and enhancing a sense of space without losing a sense of intimacy.

Spa Treatment Offering

A marriage between locally grown botanicals and Natura Bisse’s innovation to skincare with unparalleled anti-aging and revitalizing formulas, offers an enlivening and luxurious collection of treatments that are ultimately pleasurable and offer proven results.

The menu includes a range of bespoke massages such as the ‘Coral Reef Caribbean Calm’ and the ‘Muscle Melt’; a range of tailored, oxygen & citrus Facials are based on the effective Natura Bisse products.  Body treatments include the Lemongrass and Ginger Rub; a Pineapple and Coconut Crème Brulee scrub; Rituals such as the Lomi-Juma Neuro-Aroma Ritual use indigenous techniques & cooling products providing a sense of place. The Coral Reef Spa Collections are 3-4 hr treatments that can be taken in the individual treatment rooms or within the private Pavilion for 2.

Client Satisfaction

With the assistance of Howard Consulting & local architects Gillespie & Steel, we have achieved a spa that encourages the guest to take their spa journey whilst continually being in-touch with the unique outside environment of tropical Barbados.

The design is sophisticated, warm and inviting. Inspiration was taken from the unique charm of Coral Reef Club and reproduced with sharper lines, textures and contrasts of dark wood against light coral.
