The Chester Grosvenor and Spa

Qualitative success with limited Space....
Overview
The distinctive design of the Chester Grosvenor Spa reveals the ultimate success of a small but prestigious and significant Spa construction within the constraints of a finite ‘footprint' plan. Utilising valuable hotel space to its best potential was the principal issue for this development.
Constraints
The Chester Grosvenor is a listed heritage property ‘building-locked' on all sides by an ancient Roman wall, a Shopping Centre, a multi-storey car park and Eastgate's busy Main Street. Whilst this provides superb amenities for hotel guests, it is a commendable challenge for any Spa consultant.
Objective & Achievements
Through extensive research, we identified a precise niche opportunity. The Spa would have to strengthen room rates, broaden market appeal and make a return on investment, particularly as it would replace valuable hotel room stock. The Spa required to be in-keeping with the Hotel's style, age and ‘five red star' reputation. We embraced the key elements of a Spa experience ….a Thermal Suite, five luxury treatment rooms, an elegant relaxation area, beauty room, changing rooms and separate fitness suite completed the key components.
Exclusivity agreements were made with the prestigious Versace, Valmont and Sundari brands. The result has provided a positive effect on the hotel's profile, room revenue and occupancy figures, appealing to a wider range of markets, contributing greatly to an increase in weekend and leisure business. The Spa has added a unique selling point securing an increased level of both national and international recognition for the hotel in terms of publicity and accolades.
Client Satisfaction
" We were very aware of global changes and the development of the Spa culture, we saw a huge niche and the fantastic growth for hotels with good Spa facilities. Strategically we had to carefully consider all the options. You don't make a multi-million pound investment unless you've research it thoroughly. By underpinning other areas of business, the Spa has added a vast amount of value to our overall hotel experience."
