ST BRIDES spa hotel

Chic, contemporary, stylish, stunning views, state of the art spa
Spa Project Overview
It was only a matter of time before west Wales had a stylish hotel, a spa and dining venue for today’s discerning traveller and this is it.
Standing high above Saundersfoot harbour and coast with stunning views east across the sea and rolling countryside of Carmarthen Bay, St Brides Spa Hotel is an excellent example of how to produce a Spa for an independent luxury 35-room hotel of sufficient significance to capture residential spa guests and transform a hotel’s concept, style, customer base & consequential room revenues.
Constraints, Opportunities & Objective
Andrew & Lindsey Evans needed to totally transform a former seaside hotel in to a small luxury destination Spa Hotel with a £6 million investment. The design of the Spa was an integral part of the complete redesign of the hotel undertaken by Goff Associates. An unused outdoor area of 380m² that connected well with the hotel was assigned for a Spa. Working with Goff Associates, Howard Consulting created an exceptoonal guest journey through the Spa that made best use of the available space capable of captivating a guest for a complete day.
This of all sites was an obvoius candidate for a marine themed spa taking it’s inspiration from the stunning & moody sea views. On inspection of the spa stock in Wales we considered St Brides’ combination of warm service values, location and views a distinct advantage – furthermore we would capture this advantage by creating an infinity edge cliff top hydropool unique to the UK. We set about capturing these values within the Spa design producing a stylish, contemporary, chic Spa with strong facilities of the highest quality that could easily capture and maintain a guest’s attention throughout their stay.
Achievements
Within the 380m² we have created a mix of very interesting spaces that maximise the stunning views at every opportunity and a product that many established Hotel Spas can only dream about. We have proved that you do not necessarily have to posses a large space to produce a reason for a guest to stay at your hotel provided there are other valuable attributes that are maximised by choosing facilities that lend themselves naturally to the location. An outdoor vitality pool positions the guest to fully appreciate the stunning panoramic views - the couples treatment room & relaxation room takes in the same view. The Thermal Suite is finished to the highest standards, comprehensively equiped and encourages sequential bathing by design. The whole layout encourages the guest to explore the Spa journey.
Crucially, we have created spaces that maximise revenues from available floor space creating revenue streams from sources other than purely treatments.
St Brides Spa Hotel is still young - in the near future will be finding it’s way onto the ‘wish list’ of seasoned spa-goers.
